CACH6

Tambat Handbeaten Copper Gangal - Medium, Dia - 7". Traditionally, households used copper vessels for holding water (i.e. the matka and the Gangal) or during worship rituals. These are today increasingly used as decor artefacts, plant holders and in various other contemporary ways. Beautiful hand beaten copper pieces created by coppersmiths, colloquially known as the 'Tambat' community from western India, practicing a craft that goes back a few centuries. Copper craftsmen are adept at shaping objects completely by hand and the craft form translates into a beautiful variety of artifacts and utility items.
