Fine, Soft Kashmiri Wool Muffler. Muffler making and wool weaving has been a Kashmiri specialty for over 500 years. Shawls have been worn and used as a warm protective garment by kings and queens since ancient times. However, the Mughal emperor Akbar experimented with various styles and encouraged weavers to try new motifs, which helped establish a successful shawl industry. Jammu & Kashmir specializes in the weaving of Raffal & Pashmina shawls. Pashmina shawls are made of a special wool, called the Pashmina that is extracted from the Kel goat. The standard Wool woven in Kashmir is 'Raffel' and is 100% pure. There are a number of wool combinations using various types of wool that impact the overall softness and texture of the stole, muffler or shawl. The shawls and stoles are available in a multitude of colours – woven in patterns, plain or embroidered.
